ABOUT US

The North Kingstown High School Academy of Engineering and Robotics is a state certified Center for Technical Education (CTE). This academy is targeted to students who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering and consist of a minimum of three courses spread out over three years.  Our curriculum is provided by Project Lead the Way, the nation's premier pre-engineering curriculum provider.

When enrolled in the academy, students will take a series of courses that expose them to the different facets of engineering disciplines and skills.  Students start off in their first year learning about design.  In their second year, students apply their design methods to projects based on the field of mechanical engineering, while also learning about revising prototypes based on performance statistics.  In the third course, students will learn about specific fields of engineering that currently consist between Civil and Electrical.

At the end of the third year, students may elect to continue to take courses they had not had the opportunity to take to that point of time.  In addition, students MUST take a engineering themed internship in their senior year.  This internship will take place during the first semester.
